Job Description

ScS is a national furniture and flooring retailer with 100 stores through the UK and its Head Office in Sunderland city centre.

We are looking to recruit 2 Caretakers to join our Head Office team. Working within the Health and Safety Department, you will be responsible for the opening and closing of the Head Office premises, ensuring that it is secure at all times.  We have 2 part time opportunities available.

Core performance areas

  • Liaise with all contractors, members of staff and visitors to ensure that only appropriate persons are on site at all times.
  • Demonstrate the company’s RIGHT values, providing an excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Taking responsibility for ensuring that the Head Office premises are opened and closed securely as required, allowing all departments to function as per the business needs.
  •  Responsible for responding to emergency call out’s should either the premises fire or security alarms be triggered.
  •  Contributes effectively to general good housekeeping within Head Office to ensure the achievement of a clean and healthy working environment and assists with basic maintenance of equipment to ensure optimum performance.
  • Pro-actively contributes to the day-to-day management of Health and Safety within Head Office, in line with the Company’s Health and Safety policy, to ensure personal safety at work.
  • Assists with the moving and handling of property and furniture in line with established policy and procedures.
  • Undertakes weekly checks on the premises in line with relevant legislation and Company policy, ensuring that all relevant documentation is fully completed, appropriately filed and available for inspection at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all issues are reported to the required personnel/companies to allow them to be rectified, where necessary.
  • Undertake as required, other duties in keeping with the general nature of the position

Key skills and experience

  • Capable of heavy lifting
  • Good communication skills
  • Holds a full driving licence
