Role Profile

The E-Commerce team at ScS are on the hunt for a practical, commercially minded, and hungry Digital Merchandising Manager to join an expanding digital team with strong growth ambitions. The focus of this exciting role is to drive the online trading function, delivering best in class on site merchandising focusing on the important needs of our customers as well as identifying commercial digital levers to drive overall performance.

ScS is excited to announce its new Digital Lounge situated within our Coventry store allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the ScS shopping journey, both with our in-store experts and customers. We will be focussed on building truly omnichannel experiences through improving our current proposition and revolutionising the homewares shopping journeys.

The Digital Lounge will hold a wide range of opportunities for new and existing talent across digital marketing, ecommerce, UX and product.

What does the role involve?

  • Build an online trading plan by category, focusing on the commercial inputs and outputs needed to deliver success
  • Partnering with the business commercial teams to build out our trading calendar, coordinate digital campaign execution, and align our trading targets
  • Work in partnership with our buying and merchandising teams to plan new ranges and products, ensuring all launches are timely and of best possible standard
  • Working with the wider marketing teams to build seamless customer journeys across all channels, specifically in-store and online
  • Weekly and monthly reporting, monitoring the performance of categories across both digital trading (sales, cash margin, cost etc) and web metrics (sessions, CVR, AOV, IPB)
  • Seeking opportunities through consumer behavioural understanding and data analytics
  • Building strategies and action plans for realising potential opportunities
  • Using tools such as Dynamic Yield, Google Analytics to constantly test and improve our online offering
  • Consistently reviewing the market and competition to bring in new ideas and build towards a best in class experience
  • Work closely with the Digital Product and UX team to improve and fail fast with new ideas
  • Collaborating with the Digital Marketing team to build a commercial plan that maximises performance
  • Accountability for category-level budgets and taking action on the daily/weekly numbers
  • Constantly reviewing internal processes and optimising in terms of efficiency to allow for greater focus on trading and merchandising activities
  • Support in building a personalised experience for customers both on site and across marketing channels ensuring we are thinking ‘customer first’
  • Aligning with a ‘fit to trade’ mentality, coordinating site reviews and managing the activities across our merchandising team
  • Coaching and developing a small team of Digital Merchandising Executives ensuring potential is being maximised and the team is fulfilled and driven
  • Supporting the Senior Digital Trading & Merchandising Manager and the Director of Digital Experience when required

A bit about you…

  • 3-4 years’ experience in ecommerce
  • Experienced and passionate about building great online shopping experiences
  • Proven track record of discovering opportunities and positively improving performance as a result
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrable abilities in building and understanding digital analytics, including commercial reports
  • Experience in building and commentating on performance
  • Able to show creative flare whilst utilising commercial understanding to make decisions
  • Working knowledge of SEO and information architecture or hierarchy
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent eye for detail and accuracy
  • A basic understanding of HTML and CSS
  • A great communicator, who can contribute effectively as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with CMS platforms such as Salesforce would be advantageous
  • Experience managing colleagues or small teams advantageous but not essential
